If I do file a wrongful death claim in Texas, what do I need to prove to possibly get compensation?

Generally speaking, you would need to prove three main things:

  • You are a statutory beneficiary of the deceased person. (That includes parents, spouse and children. There are exceptions, but your attorney can outline those for you.)
  • That a wrongful act by the defendant or an entity caused the death of your family member
  • The losses you suffered as a result of the death
