Austin Car Wrecks — Austin Traffic is #119
Austin Car Wrecks — Austin Traffic Is Ranked #119 In The World
If you live or work in Austin, you know that our traffic is terrible, especially at the wrong time of day. But how bad is it, really? According to data from Inrix, a global firm that tracks traffic in 900 cities worldwide, Austin ranks 119th for the worst traffic globally.
How bad is that really? To put it into context, we’re only one spot ahead of Barcelona, Spain, a busy European city known for its narrow streets and heavy congestion. Not surprising if you’ve been there, New York City holds the top spot for worst traffic in the world. Other major U.S. cities making the top 10 include Chicago at number 5 and Los Angeles at number 7.
When it comes to Texas, Houston claims the worst traffic, ranking 19th worldwide. If you’ve had the “pleasure” of frequently driving in Dallas, you might think that Dallas would be right up there, but surprisingly, Dallas only checks in at number 101.
So, the next time you’re stuck on I-35 or inching along MoPac, take a moment to celebrate—Austin’s traffic could be worse! After all, being number 119 in the world isn’t great, but it’s not the worst.
