Brooks and Schuelke Attorneys Austin Texas
The Baylor Judicial Tort Reform Survey in the News

As you may recall, Baylor Law School professors conducted a survey of the state's district judges to get their thoughts on frivolous lawsuits, excessive verdicts, and the such.  Two Texas plaintiffs' lawyers have recently written a commentary based on the article for the San Antonio Express News.  TLR attorney Lee Parsley had his response, and now the plaintiffs' attorneys have responded.  To see all the action, check out Todd Smith's Texas Appellate Law Blog.

Any Review of Texas Supreme Court Candidates?
written by conservative democrat , November 30, 2007
Have you done any analysis of the prior appellate opinions reviewing the cases of those candidates who would run for the Texas Supreme Court?

Thirteenth Court of Appeals Justice Linda Yanez and Judge Susan Criss are in a primary to run against Justice Phil Johnson.

Attorneys Sam Houston of Houston and Baltazar Cruz of Dallas are running against Justice Dale Wainwright.

There are rumors of several well regarded judges who are looking into the likelihood that they will run against Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson.

I have read some of the prior decisions of Justice Yanez and some of the decisions reviewing (and generally reversing) Criss to compare them against Justice Johnson's opinions, but I am unfamiliar with Houston's and Cruz's work.
Thanks for the Baylor article

Thanks for the Baylor article links; your website has been the most convenient place for me to find it.

With Peter Kelly, I'm one of the two lawyers who wrote the favorable comment on the Baylor article that you link here. But unlike Peter, I'm not really a plaintiffs' lawyer; I'm an appellate lawyer who has represented parties on both sides of the docket. Most of my practice now is representing defendants, but I still do some plaintiffs' work.

Mark Perlmutter and I have met a few times, when I was a partner at Haynes and Boone in Houston in the mid-'90s and we had a mutual friend. Hope Mark is well.

Thanks again.
